Mixed-vendor polling.
Work with Ruckus ICX, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE and HP/Aruba ProCurve. Earlier Ruckus and HP/Aruba polling was lab-tested; Cisco parsing still awaits hardware validation.
PiNT LIVE / POLL & DOCUMENT
A free, open-source multi-switch polling tool for Windows and macOS. Collect supported switch data over SSH, review ports, VLANs and learned MAC addresses, then export structured Excel documentation.
Collect supported switch data through SSH or Telnet.
Review totals. Search ports. Enrich records with ARP and DHCP data.
Build linked Excel worksheets from the collected results.
Illustrative sample records. Cisco hardware validation and v0.7.0 live-switch validation remain outstanding.
Go from switch results to a workbook you can search, review and hand over.
Work with Ruckus ICX, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE and HP/Aruba ProCurve. Earlier Ruckus and HP/Aruba polling was lab-tested; Cisco parsing still awaits hardware validation.
See network totals, search collected results and filter by port state. Search and filters affect the displayed rows; totals and Excel exports keep all collected results.
Combine ARP workbooks and DHCP exports to add IPs, hostnames and IP assignment labels to matching learned MAC entries. A learned MAC may belong to a device behind another switch or access point.
DESKTOP + LIVE / BETTER TOGETHER
Bring PiNT Desktop’s ARP scan into PiNT Live. Add IP addresses and available hostnames to matching switch records in your Excel documentation.
01 / SCAN & EXPORT
Scan the local IPv4 network, then export the ARP results as a separate workbook.
Import the ARP workbook into Live. It matches those MAC addresses to the ones learned by your switches.
03 / EXPORT WITH CONTEXT
The switch and port record, with another layer of detail from your supplied ARP data.
Matching ARP detail included.
Illustrative records. ARP discovery stays within the local Layer 2 network. Missing matches stay blank in the export; hostnames depend on what is available. A learned MAC can be behind another switch or access point, so it does not prove a direct connection.

Use DHCP leases and reservations alongside ARP as a second source of MAC/IP information. Results and Excel exports use the same loaded data.
Load Windows DHCP console TXT/CSV, PowerShell CSV, or header-based router/firewall and generic TXT/CSV/TSV/XLSX tables. IP and MAC/client ID columns are required; hostname is optional. Only Ethernet MAC-based client IDs can be matched.
Excel reports Static, DHCP lease, DHCP reserved or Unknown alongside each port’s MAC/IP/hostname values. Windows reservation fields are recognised. ARP and MAC-table entry types never prove a static IP; unrecognised or conflicting classifications stay Unknown.
Combine files before or after polling. Failed imports retain previously loaded data. Only one IP per MAC is retained, so use exports from the same site and collection period. Imports are snapshots; regional lease-expiry timestamps are not interpreted.
Under Enrich your results, choose Leases or Reservations, then Load DHCP exports. Select Reservations for a reservation-only console list. To record a confirmed static IP, include an IP assignment column containing Static. Native backups, netsh configuration exports, full-server XML and command dumps are not supported. PiNT LIVE / LATEST STABLE
PUBLISHED 25 OCTOBER 2026PiNT Live v0.7.0 stable for Windows and macOS. No separate Python installation is needed. Choose the native build for your platform.
Real Windows DHCP exports, live switches and interactive Windows/high-DPI behaviour have not been validated in this change. Windows text fixtures are synthetic. These downloads are not publisher-signed or Apple-notarised; SmartScreen or Gatekeeper prompts may appear.
Portable executable. Download and double-click to launch. This is not a setup installer; no separate Python installation is needed.
Download Windows x64 Windows SHA-256 checksum ↗Native Apple Silicon DMG. Open it, drag PiNT Live into Applications, then launch from Applications. No separate Python installation is needed.
Download Apple Silicon Apple Silicon SHA-256 checksum ↗Native Intel DMG. Open it, drag PiNT Live into Applications, then launch from Applications. No separate Python installation is needed.
Download Intel Mac Intel Mac SHA-256 checksum ↗Mac packages target macOS 15; older macOS versions have not been validated. Choose the build for your Mac: these are separate native DMGs. No Windows ARM or Linux desktop download is included. Apple’s guidance for trusted downloaded apps ↗
THE PRACTICAL DETAILS
Add switches individually or use Paste list… for addresses separated by lines, spaces, tabs, commas or semicolons; duplicates are skipped. Set shared credentials or per-switch overrides under Credentials & vendors…. Keep SSH selected, choose Switches at once from 1 to 20 (default 1), then Poll switches. Review results and export to Excel. Import an ARP workbook from PiNT Desktop or DHCP exports to enrich matching MAC records. The switch polling workflow explains the supported vendors and validation limits.
PiNT Live currently provides on-demand switch polling and documentation. Scheduled polling, headless operation and historical logging remain planned. Use it to collect and review a network audit, rather than as a continuous monitoring service.
PiNT Live implements polling for Ruckus ICX, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE and HP/Aruba ProCurve over SSH or Telnet with an unencrypted-connection warning. Earlier Ruckus and HP/Aruba polling was lab-tested; Cisco parsing still awaits hardware validation. LLDP/CDP neighbour collection is implemented for Ruckus ICX. Live-switch validation of v0.7.0 remains outstanding. Check supported features ↗
On Windows 10/11, download the portable x64 .exe and double-click it. On Mac, choose Apple Silicon/M-series or Intel, open the DMG, drag PiNT Live into Applications and launch it there. No separate Python installation is required. Mac packages target macOS 15; older macOS versions are unvalidated. These downloads are not publisher-signed or Apple-notarised, so security prompts may appear. Downloads and platform guidance ↗
Correct their addresses, credentials or vendors, then choose Retry failed. It uses current settings, retains successful results and retries only failed rows still in the list. Newly added switches and rows cancelled or not started by Stop are excluded. Untick Use same credentials for all before setting individual credentials. Poll switches starts a fresh run; concurrency changes apply to the next poll or retry and last for the current app session.
The release reports all 110 automated tests passing on Windows x64, macOS Apple Silicon and macOS Intel. Each native package passed architecture and frozen-app startup checks with version 0.7.0 and no callback errors. Downloaded binaries matched their SHA-256 files and GitHub digests, both DMGs passed integrity checks, and the macOS ARM64 source import/export workflow passed. Read the validation and limitations, including outstanding live-switch and Windows interactive checks.
No. Search and port-state filters change the displayed rows only. Dashboard totals and Excel exports retain all collected results. Use Command+F on Mac or Ctrl+F on Windows for search, and Command+E or Ctrl+E to export when results are available.
The switch login credentials you enter stay in application memory and are not saved into project files or exports. Optional raw CLI/configuration exports can contain device secrets, including password hashes and SNMP communities; they are off by default and require acknowledgement of a warning. Stop is cooperative and retains completed switch results.
